BEECA’s Accreditation Benchmarks:

BEECA establishes rigorous benchmarks for educational institutions that operate internationally. Institutions seeking accreditation must meet these high standards to earn an accreditation license.

CRITERION I - MISSION STATEMENT:

The educational institution’s mission must be clearly articulated and publicly accessible. The institution’s focus on research, scholarship, and academic programs should be evident and communicated effectively.

1. Mission Statement Approval: The institution’s mission statement, endorsed by its governing board, should align with higher education goals, guiding its efforts and being well-understood by the community.

2. Mission Fulfillment: The institution must define how it achieves its mission, setting measurable outcomes or achievements that demonstrate satisfactory mission fulfillment.

CRITERION II - INTEGRITY AND GOVERNANCE:

The institution must demonstrate integrity through its governance and administrative structures, ensuring that all stakeholders are involved in fulfilling its mission.

1. Effective Leadership: The institution’s governance and administrative frameworks should support leadership and collaborative processes, safeguarding institutional integrity.

2. Integrity Protection: The institution must consistently uphold and protect its integrity throughout its operations.

CRITERION III - STUDENT LEARNING AND TEACHING EXCELLENCE:

The institution must show evidence of effective teaching and student learning outcomes, reflecting its commitment to educational excellence.

1. Learning Outcomes: Clear goals for student learning must be defined for each program, enabling effective assessment.

2. Teaching Support: The institution should support and value effective teaching practices.

3. Learning Environments: The institution must create conducive learning environments.

4. Learning Resources: Educational resources must support both student learning and teaching effectiveness.

CRITERION IV - APPLICATION OF KNOWLEDGE:

The institution should foster a culture of lifelong learning for all members, supporting inquiry, creativity, and social responsibility in line with its mission.

1. Lifelong Learning: Actions of the institution’s leadership and community should reflect a commitment to continuous learning.

2. Intellectual Inquiry: The acquisition of knowledge and intellectual inquiry should be central to the educational programs.

3. Curriculum Relevance: The usefulness of curricula should be assessed for students living and working in a diverse, global, and technological world.

4. Knowledge Support: The institution must provide resources to help faculty, students, and staff acquire and apply knowledge responsibly.

3. Evaluation Processes: Ongoing evaluation must provide reliable evidence of institutional effectiveness, guiding continuous improvement.

4. Aligned Planning: All planning activities should align with the institution’s mission to strengthen its ability to fulfill that mission.
